Green Roofing & Living Roofs
Green roofs combine a proven waterproofing system with a vegetation layer that extends membrane life, improves insulation, and provides genuine environmental benefits. We install sedum, semi-intensive, and intensive green roof systems.
Green Roof Systems We Install
Extensive (Sedum) Green Roof
Shallow growing medium (50–150mm) planted with drought-tolerant sedums. Lightweight, low maintenance, suitable for most flat roofs.
Semi-Intensive Green Roof
Deeper growing medium allowing a wider variety of plants including grasses, herbs, and perennials.
Intensive Green Roof
Deep growing medium (200mm+) suitable for shrubs, trees, and fully landscaped spaces. Requires structural support.
Biodiverse / Brownfield Roof
Designed to maximise ecological value with a varied substrate and mixed planting scheme.
Benefits of a Living Roof
- Extends membrane lifespan by protecting it from UV and temperature extremes
- Improves insulation — reduces heating and cooling costs
- Reduces surface water runoff — important for planning applications
- Increases biodiversity — habitat for insects, birds, and pollinators
- Improves air quality and reduces urban heat island effect
- Increasingly required by planning authorities on new developments
- Attractive appearance — adds value to residential and commercial properties
